The operating principle of a centrifugal extractor mainly consists of two key stages: mixing mass transfer and centrifugal separation. The two liquids to be processed are thoroughly mixed under the action of a rotating drum or impellers. Subsequently, under the strong centrifugal force generated by high-speed rotation, rapid phase separation is achieved based on the density difference. The higher-density heavy phase gathers toward the periphery and is discharged through the heavy-phase outlet, while the lower-density light phase moves toward the center and discharged through the light-phase outlet, thereby completing efficient separation.

In this process, precise control of the phase interface is essential to preventing entrainment. If the interface is positioned too far outward, light-phase entrainment in the heavy phase may occur; conversely, if it is too far inward, heavy-phase entrainment in the light phase can result. Therefore, effective control of the interface position can be achieved by adjusting the diameter of the heavy-phase weir, ensuring clear and thorough phase separation.
