For the extraction of penicillin, ethyl acetate is used as the extractant, and solvent extraction is used as the process. A customer consulted us about penicillin extraction equipment. They previously used the extraction column to extract penicillin. During the operation, problems such as small processing volume, entrainment, and flooding occurred. In response to these problems, the customer wanted to replace the equipment. In response to the customer's problem, our company selected the centrifugal extractor for the customer. The specific process is: the feed liquid and the extractant are injected into the centrifugal extractor through different inlets according to a certain ratio, the feed liquid and the extractant are quickly mixed and transferred by the centrifugal force of the centrifugal extractor, and then the extractant containing the organic phase is separated from the feed liquid by the centrifugal shear force, and discharged from the machine body through different outlets.
The working principle of the centrifugal extractor is fundamentally different from other extraction equipment. The characteristics and advantages of the centrifugal extractor are as follows:
1.Centrifugal extractor has a simple and stable structure. It adopts an upper suspended single-point structure. There is no bottom bearing and mechanical seal in the processing area, and there is no risk of leakage. It solves the problem of frequent failures and short service life of centrifugal extractor and saves equipment maintenance costs.
2.Centrifugal extractor has a larger processing capacity and is more energy-efficient (under the same processing capacity, its power consumption is 1/10~1/3 of that of the traditional annular gap structure centrifugal extractor). The equipment can be made of perfluorinated polymer materials, which are resistant to corrosion by strong acids (hydrochloric acid, mixed acids, etc.).
3.Good mixing and separation effects - a variety of mixing structures are available, with high separation effects, and can be applied to systems that are easily emulsified.
