High-purity manganese sulfate is the key raw material for nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) lithium-ion battery cathode precursors, with extremely stringent purity requirements. In particular, harmful impurities such as potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium must be below 5.0×10⁻⁵.

During the purification of manganese sulfate, the removal of calcium and magnesium has long been a major industry challenge. Compared with crystallization, electrolysis, and chemical precipitation methods, centrifugal extraction introduced by Zhengzhou Tiei Extraction Technology Co., Ltd. has become the mainstream route for producing high-purity manganese sulfate due to its short process, high efficiency, and low energy consumption.

CWL-M Centrifugal Extraction System

The CWL-M centrifugal extraction system, independently developed by Zhengzhou Tiei Extraction Technology Co., Ltd., consists of multiple CWL-M series centrifugal extractors forming the core units of extraction, scrubbing, and stripping. The system has demonstrated excellent performance in the high-purity manganese sulfate production field.

Advantages of the CWL-M Centrifugal Extractor

1.Compact structure with flexible installation layout
2.Rapid establishment of phase equilibrium, significantly reducing experimental and production time
3.Small internal volume, minimizing extractant and material consumption, saving investment costs

Core Process Flow of Manganese Sulfate Extraction

1.Extraction–Scrubbing–Stripping Unit
The extractant enters the extraction section from the first stage, while the manganese feed enters from the last stage. Manganese transfers into the saponified extractant in the extraction section, then moves to the scrubbing section where it contacts wash liquid in counter-current to remove calcium, magnesium, and other impurity ions. It then enters the stripping section and enters the aqueous phase to produce high-purity manganese sulfate. The extraction section consists of 3–5 stages, the scrubbing section 5–8 stages, and the stripping section 4–6 stages, connected sequentially with steel-based PTFE-lined corrugated hoses.

2.Manganese Recovery and Oil Removal Unit
The manganese feed contacts the extractant in the extraction section in a counter-current manner, forming a raffinate. This raffinate then enters the subsequent centrifugal extractor, where it comes into contact again with the saponified extractant. Manganese in the raffinate is further recovered into the loaded organic phase, and then stripped to produce high-purity manganese sulfate, achieving deep recovery and utilization of manganese.

3.Extractant Acid Washing Unit
The stripping extractant enters the acid-washing centrifugal extractor, contacting the acid wash liquid in counter-current. Residual impurities are removed, and the extractant is regenerated to an unloaded state for system recycling, significantly reducing extractant consumption.

The CWL-M centrifugal extraction system efficiently converts manganese feed into high-purity manganese sulfate, achieving deep purification. The final product meets the rigorous quality requirements of battery-grade high-purity manganese sulfate. As a core liquid–liquid extraction equipment, the CWL-M series centrifugal extractor has been successfully applied in multiple high-purity manganese sulfate production projects, becoming the preferred choice in the industry.
