Battery grade nickel sulfate is mainly used in the production of ternary cathode material precursors for new energy vehicle power batteries, as well as the production of traditional batteries such as nickel-metal hydride batteries and nickel-cadmium batteries. The main preparation processes for battery grade nickel sulfate are as follows:

  1. After leaching - iron and aluminum removal - p204 extraction impurities - p507 cobalt extraction - p507/c272 magnesium extraction and other treatments, nickel sulfate solution and cobalt sulfate solution are obtained respectively. Finally, nickel sulfate crystals and cobalt sulfate crystals are obtained through evaporation and crystallization.
  2. After leaching - iron and aluminum removal - p204 extraction impurities - p507 extraction of cobalt and magnesium and stepwise stripping to produce pure cobalt sulfate liquid - p507 extraction of nickel and stepwise stripping to produce pure nickel sulfate liquid. Then the nickel sulfate liquid and cobalt sulfate liquid are evaporated and crystallized respectively to obtain battery grade nickel sulfate and cobalt sulfate.
  3. The nickel in the nickel-containing materials is well separated from other impurity elements through three extractions:
① Add sulfuric acid to nickel-containing materials for acid leaching to obtain a nickel-containing solution. The metal elements in the nickel-containing materials include nickel, cobalt, magnesium, copper, manganese, calcium, zinc, iron, and aluminum.
② Remove iron and aluminum from the nickel-containing solution to obtain the liquid after iron and aluminum removal.
③ Use the first extraction agent of soap transfer to perform the first extraction on the liquid after iron and aluminum removal to obtain the first raffinate.
④ Use the second extraction agent of soap transfer to perform the second extraction on the first raffinate to obtain the second raffinate.
⑤ Use the third extraction agent of soap transfer to perform the third extraction on the second raffinate to obtain the third raffinate.
⑥ The third raffinate is evaporated, concentrated and cooled for crystallization in sequence, and then the first centrifugal separation is performed to obtain the first wet nickel sulfate crystals and crystallization mother liquor.
⑦ Use a saturated nickel sulfate aqueous solution to spray wash and/or slurry the first wet nickel sulfate crystals, and perform a second centrifugal separation of the resulting washing liquid to obtain the second wet nickel sulfate crystals and washed liquid; the second wet nickel sulfate crystal is dried to obtain battery grade nickel sulfate.

No matter which process is used, extraction equipment is undoubtedly the core of extracting and purifying nickel sulfate. Our CWL centrifugal extractor can perfectly meet the high flow ratio industrial hydrometallurgical nickel sulfate extraction and separation requirements.
